Kes

I have just been to the captioned performance of Kes at the Kings Theatre. It was a brilliant and very moving production. It was so good not to have to strain to hear what the actors were saying and the captions were very clear.

This is only my second captioned show. I was sitting in the stalls in row H and still found it difficult to read and watch at the same time. I had to lift my head up to read the captions. Would it have been better if I had sat further back or in the Circle? Where do other folk choose to sit? I'd be interested to know. Also where to sit in the Playhouse, the Lyceum, and the Festival Theatre.

Deaf Action and its Club for hard of hearing

Have you heard of this Club? It is free; you can give a small donation (without obligation). The last Tuesday of the month there is a lip reading class. All the other Tuesdays there is always something going on. For instance, there was an Indian experience on 13/10; on 20/10 there were photographs of plants and butterflies to be seen. If you are interested you can 'phone Ena Wallace at 0131 665 3201 for a programme of events.
I think it is good because:
1) You can pick a chose when do you want to go
2) You can have a cup of tea and a biscuit and "try" to chat with people with the same dissability
Where? Albany Street - Edinburgh
When? At 2 pm every Tuesday

Booking

I notice that the Lyceum offers an email address for Box Office, and I have - with difficulty - made use of their loop system at the Box Office. Can Artlink bring pressure to bear on Edinburgh Festival Theatre to provide an email address for Festival and King's bookings, and also instal a loop system at the box office counter?
